For nearly five years, I dreamed with my friend — David Moran — about starting his own hair salon. Those fantasies finally became a reality in December 2019 with the opening of Catbird Seat Hair Salon in Carmel, Indiana, and it was a pleasure working with him to create his new branding logo design!
For this project, we partnered with Meg Cook of Meg Cook Creative because of her vast experience not only in brand development, but also merchandise design.
This new salon is situated in Carmel, Indiana, an affluent suburb just north of Indianapolis. And the brand needed to appeal to this type of luxury buyer, looking for comfort and extravagance in their hair care treatment — through the right mark, colors, and typefaces.
We presented the following first round of designs. Without cheating and scrolling down, any guesses on David’s favorite branding logo design?
While the initial concepts were diverse in design, one look quickly quickly rose to the top of David’s list. And after a bit of tweaking to the colors and typefaces, we presented and finalized the following brand identities:
With this client, a logo was only the first step. Being a B2C entity, the brand needed to be quickly integrated into some basic marketing materials.
To give clients something to remember the brand by and showcase to other observers, we created both a vertical and horizontal shopping bag design.
We also created and presented the following business card designs for David and his team to present to prospects around town.
And finally, we worked with Megan to design the following stamp and sticker designs for David and his team to place on products, swag, and other marketing materials.
