Product Review: Robbie Richards’ Competitor Backlink Analysis Guide

One of our go-to SEO hacks has stood the test of time and continues to be used today:  competitor backlink analysis. The reality is that you have competitors, and they’re stealing some your business. But what if you could figure out exactly how they’re doing it? Instead of ignoring your competition, there’s a way to analyze their backlinks and easily outrank them.

How you ask? Read on.

Robbie Richards recently published an A-Z guide on competitor backlink analysis. The goal of the guide is to help readers track link building tactics across a range of competitor analysis tactics — ultimately, stealing competitor’s’ backlinks, rankings and traffic.

The guide presents a step-by-step process for researching, learning and replicating what your competitors are doing. There are a lot of resources out there walking you through this process, but Robbie has created the best one we’ve seen in terms of really breaking down why this is important, and providing value throughout the entire guide. Follow it precisely, and you will be well on your way to understanding exactly what your competitors are doing.

Our Top 3 Takeaways

1. Use the Downloadable Template
Our favorite part of the guide is the downloadable template Robbie offers, allowing you to organize your link tracking and outreach process as you tackle each step. This process would be impossible to follow without the help of that template.

2. Be Prepared for the Time Commitment

The step-by-step guide does take some time to complete. Carve out a good chunk of your day or week to dedicate to this project in order to ensure you’re able to see it through. Once you’ve gone through all of the steps, you will not only develop a solid long-term strategy for link building, but you will also be much more knowledgeable about what strategies your competitors are implementing.

3. Don’t Rely on This Strategy Alone

Robbie adds this at the end of his post, and we can’t emphasize it enough. While this may serve as one great SEO strategy, it shouldn’t be your only strategy for link building. Consider pursuing additional opportunities as you build out your SEO and link building plan.
