The Colorado Springs Coffee Shop Nomad

In 2019, my family and I packed up and moved from the midwest to Colorado. And one of my first priorities was to find a great Colorado Springs coffee shop (or several) from which to work. Read on for some of my favorites in and around “Little London.”

My Need for a Coffee Shop in Colorado Springs

Despite owning and operating Keyhole Marketing since 2012, I’ve never really wanted to lease an office space for Keyhole Marketing. That may one day change. But for now, I much prefer working in a Colorado Springs coffee shop.

Most days, I work out of my home home — until the extroverted side of my personality takes over and pulls me away to some local coffeehouse. (Not that I’m kicking and screaming.) As a result, it’s made me into a sort of coffeehouse nomad, traveling from café to café in search of the best locale to set up shop.

My Coffee Shop Criteria

In that search, I’ve found that there are only a handful of joints that offer good out-of-the-home workspaces. Lots of places offer decent food and drink, but not all offer my top four essentials:

  1. Power: There needs to be plenty of electrical outlets. If I have to bring an extension cord to reach your two available outlets, I’m probably not coming back. Give me easy access and I’ll stay to purchase and repurchase your coffees/teas for hours.
  2. Elbow Room: I dig tables that provide enough workspace area to fit a laptop AND a mouse…without having to pull two or three tables together.
  3. Seating: I like a place that offers ample seating capacity. Give me options to rest my rump, but don’t overcrowd it by squeezing in as much furniture as the fire code allows. Find the right balance for your space.
  4. Climate: If people have to yell to be heard, it’s a problem. Music should be at such a level where it simply fills in the background and conversations should not be bouncing off the walls.

My List of Top 3 Colorado Springs Coffee Shops

Using that criteria, I’ve found the following three Colorado Springs coffee shops that meet (and exceed) my requirements:

Building Three Coffee
2727 N Cascade Ave Suite 155
Colorado Springs, CO 80907

Good Neighbors Meeting House
505 Columbia St
Colorado Springs, CO 80907

Loyal Coffee
408 S Nevada Ave
Colorado Springs, CO 80903

Whether you’re up downtown, closer to Monument, or driving in from Manitou Springs, each one makes a great out-of-the-home office space.

But don’t just take my word for it. Try them out and look for me — the good looking one.
