I found this two-word sentence engraved on a tombstone, while roaming through a New England graveyard. It gave me an idea, but I need your help.
I want to know who Alice was. Where was she born? How did she die? What was her life like between the beginning and the end? Who did she know? What were her hopes, her dreams, her fears? Who was this Alice?
And so here’s the idea. I’d love for us all to write the story of Alice, engaging in a good content creation exercise where we collaboratively create her tale one paragraph at a time.
In the comments section below, write your paragraph. Describe the setting, add new characters, drop in plot twists. You could write one short sentence, or you could write 1,000 words—whatever it takes for you to pick up the story where someone else left off.
Who knows? Maybe one day we’ll get the pleasure of discovering the real story of Alice. But until then, let’s compose our own fiction. Won’t you join me?
I’ll start us off.
Rain pounds heavily against the back door.
