I’m six days into exploring our new home state of Colorado — you can see the view from my temporary house above — and thrilled that the timing worked out to attend the 2019 Small Business Week for the Pikes Peak Region on May 5-9th. I hope to spend a few days down in Colorado Springs learning about the small business landscape, meeting cool new people, and supporting local.
Here’s what I’m looking forward to most:
How could this not be first on my list? I love that they’re kicking off the week with a food truck cook-off. Two of Keyhole’s top values: good food and supporting local.
There is always more to learn in this fast-paced, ever-changing world of storytelling and marketing. I believe hearing personal stories and experiences from local business owners can be the best way to learn, and I’m excited to meet some local experts in the space.
As a small business who serves other small businesses, we are constantly trying to keep up with industry trends. This workshop plans to highlight social impact and purpose-driven business models, which definitely catches my eye.
To be honest, I don’t know a whole lot about the cybersecurity world and how it affects small businesses. So I’m very eager to learn more, especially since this workshop is being mindful of budget.
I’d be lying if I said moving to a new city isn’t intimidating. I am thankful for opportunities like these to meet new, like-minded people, support local business, and hopefully expand my network of partners and friends here in Colorado.
If you’re planning on hanging out in Colorado Springs for Small Business Week, send us a note! I’d love to grab a coffee or beer, attend a workshop together and get to know you. Additionally, if you have any suggestions for what not to miss in Colorado Springs, send them my way!
